The success of last year's exhibition František Kupka – Little Known and Unknown in Litomyšl inspired the creation of a new exhibition Josef Šíma – Painting.
It presents another native of East Bohemia (1891, Jaroměř – 1971, Paris), who created a vision of light that had never been seen before with his unique painterly language. He is another pioneer like Kupka. Both spent much of their lives in Paris confronted with the latest developments in the visual arts. Šíma is a key mediator between the Czech avant-garde and the European art world and is now considered one of the most important figures in international art. His first solo exhibition in Litomyšl is another in a series of important events organised by the Zdeněk Sklenář Gallery in cooperation with private collectors and the West Bohemian Gallery in Pilsen.
