The exhibition offers a unique cross-section of the work of leading Czech artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The exhibition includes works that combine abstraction, geometry and expressive expression, and shows how strong the relationships between lines and colours are in the context of contemporary art.
In addition to the already established artists Milan Grygar, Zdeněk Sýkora, Václav Boštík, Květa Pacovská, Karel Malich and others, the exhibition introduces the newly discovered artist Marianne Aue, whose works have long remained outside the attention of the Czech public, even though she was born in Bruntál in 1932. Her abstract compositions are now coming to the fore and offer a fresh new perspective on post-war abstraction.
In March next year, the Ludwig Museum in Koblenz will host a major exhibition of Marianne Aue's work, which will offer a comprehensive view of her work in connection with the German art group Zero.
